Imagine: An Altered Planner with Dusty Attics

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello all!

I am Rajni Chawla here from India. Firstly, I wish all the Dusty Attic members and all the followers, a very Happy Twenty Sixteen. I feel very honoured to be part of Dusty Attic Design Team for the year 2016. I am so excited that I'll be sharing my passion with like-minded crafters, some of whom I've looked up to for inspiration. A very heartfelt thanks to all of you for giving me this chance to work with such a talented design team. I hope all of us can learn and inspire each other with each creation !!

Today, I am here to share my very first project for Dusty Attic. I got a tub full of yummy colours along with so many other surprisingly gorgeous supplies in my Dt package. Lots of gorgeous  DA chippies, texture pastes and mediums, DA stencils and so many of blooms. It was really a big Dt haul I must say.....and loved it too. Thank you so much, Jen for sharing your love and generosity and also, a big thanks to Jennifer Mahoney for such a beautiful designing.

Now on to today's project. I was so in love with lovely shades of DA acrylic paints that I decided to try them mainly along with DA chipboards. Few days back I got my hands on a newly launched planner by Papericious and reserved it for designing it for myself.  Planners are essential for managing our time and tracking our goals. Isn't  it ??
I am an artist myself. My planner should be a piece of art which should document all my inspirations and my goals as it is going to track my progress over a year as well as my personality in one book.

This is what my planner looked like before I started working on it.

And this is how it looks after alteration.

I really loved the way it turned out. Hope you all liked it too.
When I start any project I firstly try to visualise what actually is in my mind and what finish exactly I want. Soft pastels and very shabby....no golds and no glitters that was what I needed for my planner and when I got DA acrylic paints in my hand my mind was blown with ideas. I really loved them all. these work like cream.....just PERFECT....what actually I needed.

Here are few more close ups for more details.

I have used DA's Vintage Frame #4, DA's Cog #2 and DA's Blueprint Imagine. I have coloured all my embellishments and my background with various shades of DA Acrylic Paints. I kept adding layer after layer until I was satisfied with the background. All the shades that I have used are listed below in the post.

Here is the full view of the back cover of my album which shows prominent cracks that I got after applying the crackle paint. Also, I have used half of the DA Doily #4 to create my back cover.

And a little more embellishment with charms and ribbons and I am done.

So that's all with my creation for today. Hope you enjoyed reading about it as much as I enjoyed writing about it. If you want to know more about me and my work, then jus simply follow me on my Facebook page, my blog and my Instagram profile.

Since this is my very first post for Dusty Attic, I have little more to say. Yesterday, after completing my project late in the night, when I entered my bedroom and logged into my FB account, I saw a project very similar to mine made my beloved team member Marta Lapkowaska. The only thing that came to my mind at that time was - OMG! What a beautiful coincidence it was as it was her first project as a DT member too. Surely, like-minded people think alike.

List of the products used:-

DA Vintage Frame #4

DA Doily #8

DA Cog #2

DA Blueprint Imagine

Dusty in Colour Jungle Green

Dusty in Colour Crushed Olive

Dusty in Colour Alabaster

Dusty in Colour Cashmere

Searching for some inspiration? Check out Dusty Attic's this month's beautiful mood board. What's more, you might just get lucky and win a voucher worth $100 from the DA website. Plus, you can also avail a special discount of 20% by using the code - Happy2016 at the checkout!

Feeling proud and honoured to share my beautiful Dusty Attic batch with you all.

Mixed Media Frame...

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello lovely ladies....
Mixed Media Art includes all and anything you can think of! As the name says it all....its mixing of many different mediums together. It can open up a world of creativity for those also who like to make things but "Can't draw". The skills you need to get started are as simple as being able to use a pencil, scissors and glue but u really need to have a very good knowledge of handling different mediums. You can expand your skills and develop with practice, depending on which "branch" you follow. More skills of mixing paints and developing your own "artist eye" will happen as you expand your own creativity. Specific skills for particular media or art types will present themselves as you move into these areas.

Art = fun and creativity should be expressed each and every day !!
Here is another try of mine with mixed media....hope u like it.

 Have a nice day !!!

Stop being like a frog in a well !!!

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello all....

Today I am not here to showcase any of my work....rather I want to give a small lecture to crafers who lack confidence in showcasing what they actually are good at.
often see so many crafters here lack confidence. They are scared to display their interests...their creations, openly because they think others might consider them weird as their work is not as good as others. I’ve felt this fear when I was new and I’m guessing you’ve felt it as well.
You are a unique person with unique interests. You always come up with your creations and you always try to give your best. But you might not have right people in your life to share these interests with.
If the internet has proved anything, it’s that you’re not alone!!These days, you can find thousands of people around the world with interests similar to yours.
Let the crowd find you !!
Doing this can be very simple, and the solution is this:....DISPLAY YOUR UNIQUE INTERESTS WHERE OTHERS CAN SEE THEM.
Stop being like a frog in a well!
Get out and experience things....fail and you learn!
Make it easy for people to discover you. This might be a bit scary at first but you can start small and build your way up.

Hope this lecture of mine can help u a little in finding out your own value.

Product Review of STAMPOHOLIC

Posted by Rajni Chawla

PRODUCT REVIEW...!!

This one's for all fellow crafters out there.

Today, I am going to give a review of an amazing crafting tool that I've been using for quite a while now. But before you read on, here 's something you need to know.

DISCLAIMER : I do not endorse this product in any way whatsoever and I'm not associated with it's manufacturer as well. Also, I am writing this review after using the product regularly for close to two weeks now.

So, let's get started...

My general view about crafting is that it's not the tools or its brand but how u use them that creates the difference. I mean, Buying a crazily expensive tool or machine doesn't mean that automatically my creations will be beautiful. It happens only when you know how to use the tool effectively and creatively. And that can happen with Rs. 5000 product as well as a Rs. 500. Which is why, personally, I like to go for brand that suits my pocket. But then again, it doesn't mean that I tend to make compromises and go in for low quality products. All I tend to look for is to get something that has a little value for money. Just like this new STAMPOHOLIC from DIECUTS N MORE.

Not many of you may know but DIECUTS N MORE is our very own homegrown INDIAN brand. And this makes me really happy to know that it's competing head to head in terms of quality and usability with foreign brands.

STAMPOHOLIC....as the name says it all. If you are addicted to stamping and want NO MORE GUESSING, TRIALS N ERRORS AND MISTAKES, this 8x10 inches magic box is the perfect solution for all. U will wonder how you ever stamped without it. It's a great stamp positioner manufactured in INDIA.
SUPERB QUALITY, PERFECT MEASUREMENTS, EASY PLACEMENTS, CRISP BACKGROUNDS, EASY MASKING, OMBRE EFFECTS, SPEEDY MASS PRODUCTION AND STAMPS EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE EVERY TIME YOU STAMP.
LAYERED STAMPING AND ALIGNMENT OF STAMP WITH ITS COORDINATING DIE-CUT IS LIKE A CHILD'S PLAY WITH THIS TOOL.

This beautiful smal box tool is very sturdy with glass clear LASER ETCHED top plate. So now its time to BREAK FREE without the worry of the fading of the grid lines. Hinges are perfectly attached with NO SCREECH noise and also You get 2 Neodymium magnets FREE with the tool to hold the paper. The best part is its POCKET FRIENDLY. Die cuts n more has offered an introductory price of Rs 2500 only.
Its a complete package of MONEY VALUE when compared with its functionality.
Hope this review of mine can serve my fellow crafters with little knowledge to save small amount from their hard earned money. I will be soon back with my projects that I tried using this tool. Also, DIE CUTS N MORE has posted few viideos on their channel for ur guidance. And lots more are in pipeline.

YES, you have been always on our minds dear Srishti. A gift of love that your father gave me 18 years back. With each passing day, you're growing from a  chubby sweet girl into a beautiful young lady. I know as you grow older, no matter whose love will give you happiness but you will always be our little princess.
Thank u so much for this picture. In front of this photograph, my creation stands nowhere.
