Adore...March Month Inspiration

Posted by Rajni Chawla

                                                                           Hello all
Dropping again with new inspiration for Dusty Attic board.Hope you have all seen the gorgeous March mood board. I really had fun creating this new project. Don't forget to share your new creation following our March moldboard using Dusty Attic chipboards in your project. There is $100 Dusty Attic Gift Voucher for the winner. Simply link your creation in the right of the Dusty Attic Blog. .

Here is the March month mood-board.

Now my take on March mood-board.

Her'e's the thing about love. It's hard to put into words. You are not an option, a choice or a soft place to land after a long battle. You were meant to be the one. If you can wrap yourself around the idea that you are something incredible, then you will stop excusing behavior that rapes your very soul. You were never meant to teach someone to love you. You were meant to be loved. Try to adore yourself and trust
me you will fall short of words to pen down that amazing feeling.

To start with I selected patterns paper from Love Story Collection by Blue Fern Studios and Glued it to

thick black chipboard. Primed a part of it with a light coat of white gesso and different layers of textures using Dusty Attic texture Paste, stencils and stamps. Misted the background using various shades of sprays. When happy with the background I started  building layers of handmade pattern papers adding  dimensions with dimensional tape.

Here is the close up shot to show you different layers that I created.

All the chipboard pieces used (except DA Feather Charm #4) were painted using Dusty in colour Alabaster, Dusty in colour Hot Chocolate and Dusty in colour Raisin.I just simply stained DA Feather Charm and sprinkled some clear glitters to enhance the beauty of the charm.

I used fussy cut images of flowers form Graphic45 Once Upon a Springtime Collection and Gilded Lily Collection. For fussy cutting I specially use my favourite parchment scissors."Be Happy" is from DA Word Disk Collection #1.

Title "Adore" is from DA Word Pack #14

Now onto main focal image. Its from Deco-mania Rice Paper. Cut the image, glue it onto thick card stock and then paint it with Dusty Attic Ckear Crackle Varnish and set it to dry for 3-4 hours. Here is the pic to show you the beautiful textures that I got with DA clear crackle.

Look how gorgeous is the output of  DA IVY Corner #2 around the picture. I love it !!

On the top edge and the right side corner were distressed with scissors and stained a little with vintage photo distress ink by Ranger.
Few more close-up shots....

Love Love !!

Love the overall look of the project. Hope you liked it too.

Heat Embossed Card with Heartfelt Creation's Birds and Bloom Collection

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello all...!!

Hope you all had a great weekend and a great start of new week. Today I am here with quite a neat and simple card that I created when I was not well. Sitting on the bed and not allowed to enter the craft room for nearly 10 days ...nothing worst than that could be for any crafter. Still I managed to paint few images. Since I was not allowed to do fussy cutting those days, this was done by my daughter Srishti. Though I have not taught her anything but she is master in many. She can cut much much better than what I do. My bad luck...she crafts only if I m not there in craft room and prefers to do only for her friends.

For this card I chose two of the stamps from Heartfelt Creation's Birds And Blooms Collection. The one is the background stamp (Birds and Blooms Collage Cling Stamp ) and other has beautiful birdies and flowers ( Fluffy Birdies Cling Stamp )

Here is the final result.

The background is simply heat embossed using Versamark ink and white heat embossing powder on vellum sheet. And the stamped image is painted using peeled paint, barn door, vintage photo and brushed corduroy distress inks. Few images on the vellum background were also painted with same shades of distress inks.

After painting the image it is fussy cut using Xacto knife. Many of you liked my fussy cutting and asked me what scissors or cutters I use for fussy cutting. I work with simple Xacto knife and Parchment scissors. I have tried many cutters but found these best till date. Plastic body cutters don't work  for me as I often use 220 gsm card stock for painting. Its difficult to put more pressure on plastic body cutters as they break very easily. Yes...for thinner papers of-course they work very well as it needs less pressure.

Here is the more closer look of the image. I have used Glamour dust dry glitter using art glitter adhesive glue which dries clear.  The heat embossed vellum is layered on pattern paper from Birds and Blooms Collection itself. The white ring is cut out by nesting 2 circle dies together on white card stock.

Though I hardly make clean and simple cards but I really loved making this one. Birds and flowers have always been my weakness. Hope you too liked this card.

Heartfelt Thanks ( Penny Black )

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello blogger friends !!

Today's card is inspired by Jill Avery Foster  Her cards with super inky techniques have always inspired me. Penny Black is another brand that I always love to use. For more inspiration you can visit their blog here. For this card I specially chose their latest release slapstick cling 40-438 Elegance. The torn background I created using different shades of shimmerz sprays and few Indigoblu background stamps. And the background behind the image is simply made using distress Mermaid Lagoon and Faded Jeans. The main focal image is stamped couple of time, painted with shabby shutters, fussy cut and layered.

Here is the full view:

Few close-ups:

Loved the background how it turned out.

The sentiment is again from Penny Black ...Heartfelt Thanks.

I added some enamel dots to matching to the colours used to enhance the beauty of the card little more.

Mixed Media Tag With Heartfelt Creation Supplies

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello all..
A very warm welcome again !!

If I am stressed, I make poor decisions, I get sick more easily, and I spread my stress to those around me. And if I m not wrong ,it is same for all. Fortunately, I am an artist and for me there are numerous ways to create some motivational tags and journal pages to get my stress back under controll, I read to myself whenever I'm feeling stressed. My craft, my passion  is the way in which I apply paint to a project, how I think about a new composition or how I structure and write small sentences in a small story. To keep myself motivated I keep surrounding myself with small art pieces which have some inspirational messages that make me understand that soon everything will be fine. Northing is better if I am able to create them by my own. I keep creating small art pieces and display them in my craft area which really helps me moving in today's stressfull life.

The tag that I am sharing today has become one of my favourite creation that always keeps me motivated to share more.
"Be an opener of doors"
According to me it means to consider others and try to help them when you can, because we all need help sometimes.
I love this message and always feel more loved if I am able to help someone. Few days back when I saw one of my fellow crafter destashing the Floral Doorway and Latch Stamp by Heartfelt Creations on fb, I immediately booked it for me as Heartfelt Creations Floral Key Collection was my very very first buy of this brand and missed ordering this particular stamp and its Designer papers. I bought rest of the whole collection at that time but was not even known to its proper usage.  I had something in my mind already and this stamp really gave me a kick to try it immediately.  Here is my output.

I used some dry mech, a leaf spray from Dusty Attics, metal chain, texture paste and deeply scored cardstock [you can use corrugated sheet if you have ] to create all textures. I used the die-cuts from Heartfelt Creation Layered Elegant Swirls to extend a little platform to work on.

door

The door latch is stamped couple of times and  fussy-cut in different layers, painted with Gathered Twigs, Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo Distress Inks.

The flowers from the stamped image are also fussy-cut and layered. these are painted using Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemon Distress inks. For the background I used different shades of coffee by making different consistancies of coffee and water. more water less intense is the colour and less water more intense is the shade. Few shades of acrylic paints and silk glazefrom Colourarte were perfect for highlighting.

Then comes the little decoration part which I did with Mica flakes, micro beads and glitters. Here are few more close-ups to show all details.

Hope you found inspiration while viewing it the way I found while creating it :]

Celebrate...Blazing Poppy Collection

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Good morning all

A warm welcome to my blog again. I am back again with another inspiration with Heartfelt Creations for you all. This time I have created a card with their Blazing Poppy Collection. Oh... I love the gorgeous brilliant red poppies... a bright and happy flower it is!!

I don't know how they do it, but Heartfelt Creations every month brings out a new collection and each is more gorgeous than the other! Although Blazing Poppies is an old collection of theirs but it's one of my favorites.

Just when I was eagerly waiting to get my hands on the complete Sunrise Lily Collection, guess what... they have gone ahead and released another spectacular range: the new Winking Frog Collection. Each of their new releases just keeps tempting me. Gorgeous pattern papers, mind blowing subjects and unique-designs, every month tease me and make me want to spend more... but mind it worth each penny!!

Let me open my heart a little today. I so love their collections that I want to have my hands on them first. I just don't want to wait for days to get them in my hands. And this... is one of the biggest reason why I want to join their Design Team :-) I just want to see myself moving and growing along with their design team. I am crazily in love with their each collection.

On to the card now...

For the focal image I have mixed and matched both the images from Blazing Poppy Stem Cling Stamp Set. The image is first stamped with black Archival, painted with Steadtler water color pencils and them fussy-cut. The main flower is stamped, painted and layered with an extra layer and adhered with glue dots.

For the background I have used two shades of greens from my Shimmerz spray collection. Sprayed quite a few times and kept building layers by drying it in between the layers. Then applied a texture paste through the stencil and sprinkled clear glitter when wet. I preferred it to dry naturally as texture paste bubbles and creates extra textures on heating.

For the frame I nested outer three dies from Spellbinder's Large Classic Ovals. The paper collection that I used is Sunrise Lily Collection and Birds and Blooms Collection. The painted and fussy cut images are layered using glue dots.

A cl;ose-up showing different layers of poppies.

I added a double knot bow at the base of the arrangement to enhance the beauty of the card little more.

That's all for today's card.

Sunshine....A Mixed Media Card

Posted by Rajni Chawla

Hello all...

A warm welcome again..

Every new morning brings new sunshine, new joy and new hopes. Someone has said correctly that everyday is a new day. But its also true that some of us get into a rut sometimes. Few days back,I was not feeling well. But I m sure that in a day or 2 I will be back to my normal crafting routine.

I love doing mixed media and crafters around me love it too. The more often asked question by them is....What all do we need to create different textures...and Why? Do we really need to buy various accessories and pastes to build up textures as these all are quite expensive?

My simple reply to them is NO. Mixed Media does not mean ONLY creating textures and creating variuos layers....always and using pastes and accessories. It basically means using different mediums. You can also simply create mixed media projects with various waste products also. Few days back I posted a mixed media project with scrap of chip boards. You can check the post HERE . We just need to have the basic knowledge of using different mediums while creating any Mixed Media project....and Yes textures do add beauty to ur projects. If you have them in your hands, just go ahead and use. Creativity has no boundaries at all.

On to my today's project now!!

I created a Mixed Media card with Heartfelt Creation supplies. Here is the full view of the card.

Have you noticed something??

The complete background is created with the scrap pieces of Heartfelt Creation Classic Sunflower Collection and  left over die-cuts of Heartfelt Creation Classic Leaf Die and a waste card stock which was deeply scored at 1/8th of an inch every-time.

Here is a close-up for you all.

We always tend to cut few extra die-cuts and keep for our future use. Isn't it ??
Most of us either throw the tits and bits of pattern paper thinking them as waste or keep storing them building piles of scraps.

Check these picture now...

Can you guys guess what I have used here to create textures ?
Guess Guess !!

Nothing...simply wet the paper bits, shushed them hard between my fingers, rolled them and heat set and glued creating few layers.  Once covered with gesso and paint they are no waste pieces. Yes, if you want, you can add few glass beads and glitters and mica flakes to enhance the beauty of the project the way I did.

Creating textures and creating different layers in Mixed Media can be a fun game. You can create many textures with the supplies that you already have in hand and are waiting for their turn to get used. I just used three  basic mixed media supplies here...Gue, Black Gesso  and  few Paints. No sprays...No fancy accessories, No pastes and No stencils. I don't say don't buy them...buy if you have budget, buy if you know the proper use of them and surely buy if they tempt you the way they tempt me always. :D
I myself gets tempted to most of all the new supplies. hehehe
I think we all are alike and rest all suppliers do their best to tempt us always.

On to the focal image now...

Yes Yes....I m talking about this beautiful stamp by Heartfelt Creation from their Classic Sunflower Collection. The stamp set used is Sunflower Bouquet Cling Stamp Set.  I have painted it using different shades of distress inks and fussy cut and layered. For layering the image I have taken one complete image as the base image and flowers and the handle of the bucket in different layers and glued them with glue dots. The butterfly is from Sunflower Stem Cling Set

The main theme of my card moves around this beautiful hand painted and layered stamped image by Heartfelt Creation. I purposely used a frame behind the focal image to give the look of a sun and the background little dark so that bright sunflowers can pop out well.

Hope I was clear with all instructions and supplies that I have used. All the Heartfelt Creation supplies are linked. If you still have any query regarding the project do mail me at rajnichawla69@gmail.com or drop a message in comments section. I would love to reply you back asap.
